Seeing From The Edge

of the mindbodysoul.

edge painting

Before you make it to the edge you first make some assumptions about what you perceive.  I have always said that the mind cannot see past its limitations.  It can only make from what it knows and information from its pasts. I have come to this conclusion by observation and through the process of making art.  Remember that an experience is one living the process.  The experience has to embedded itself into the psyche of the mindbodysoul.  It is not about reading an experience and then thinking you know what it is about.  In a sense what you are going to get from this article is that I have seen what this means.  You just have to take my word for it.  You might not believe me that I have seen something that only lives at the fuzzy end of creativity and innovation that I found by living the process of making art.  You will see it only when you go there yourself.   If not it is just another dogmatic experience for you where you read someone’s experience and you “know” it or you read a book and you know its content but you don’t know the experience of being there.  But the others who have ploughed the same fields but  growing different flowers on the land will know the same fundamental truths, beccause there is a basic sustaining energy of the universe and a basic set of observations that is felt by all who go there.

When you are in material reality you live by your 5 sensors and your mind and body.  What you see is what you get.  Most of us of you will live that way.  The mind can only do itself.  The mind can only create iteslf.  If you look at the structure of the city: it is a refection of the mind.  It is created by the thinking mind and it suffers all the chaotic problems that you experience with your own mind.  You mind suffers and the city suffers the same way.  The city works the same way as your mind and is just as chaotic because it was created by the thinking mind.

The city was created by the brain the same way the highlighted part of the painting below was created – by the thinking mind.  It is reality as we know it.  It is material and an object. We can think in Art that we are dealing with the mystical when we create art but when a painter picks up his brush and strikes a surface – he has just placed an object on its surface.  The 3 dimensional city is created in the same way by manifesting what is in the mind.  But how many of us have made it to that fuzzy front end of creativity and innovation where the mind has come to its limit of being able to see what is ahead but just darkness and try and find the new from from the darkness that is ahead.

I want to take you to that edge away from where you are comfortable with all that you have dogmatically learnt and find the “new” in you to come forth.  To take that giant leap forward and discover the new that will transform anything it touches.

No 2 minds looking at the same physical object will see the same thing.  No 2 minds looking at a painting painted by an artist will see the same thing. Take this for instance.  As artist prepares for a new painting.  In his mind see sees this glorious image ready to be painted.  He sketches it fully but when he/she comes to paint it he/she abstracts it keeping some of the original sketch and leaving others off.  Then you have a viewer off the street looking at the painting with the artist next to the audience.  The artist does not see the same image as the audience.  The artist sees everything from the original sketch to the process that created the final image.  The artist has embodied it all and the audience will never see what the artist sees but will take away his own of the final image that he sees in front of him.  They both live a different experience of the same object.  We cannot assume that we all see the same things as we come from different directions when we come to it.

But that does not mean that there is no underlying process that is unchanging and ever true at the basic level of observation.  The audience would have a superficial experience of the experience of making art.  It is a dogmatic knowing of the a deeper process.  The difference between the maker and the viewer is the doing of it.  It is in the doing that the “edge” can be approached and it is only at the edge of the mind where it has no more information from its past to feed itself that the new is created that looks like nothing that is in existence.  So “new” that it will have the power to transform.

You live off your 5 senses when you are in the thick of the material world.  Even your 5 sensors have their limitations.  Your eyes only catch the visible spectrum.  Your hearing only hears from 20 hertz to 20 kilo hertz.  When you live with just thinking in your mind you live in the center of your sensors.  Everything is real and only true if it is real.  You can be very confident about this when you have not seen anything else.  You create a well structure environment, the city, using this information from your mind.  Most of you live this way.  Then through a process dialogue of doing you are unhappy with the zeitgeist of the mind and you don’t see the mind breaking ground.  You refuse to dig into the known to complete the project so it looks like what exists in the past.  You know that this will be ok, as that is all the majority of the people will understand and recognize.  But you push towards the edges looking for the new in you.

At the edges you find that the limitations of your 5 sensors starts to show itself.  Sound is barely audible at 20 kilo hertz but a tone in your head.  The mind is boxed in with what it only knows.  The images that are being created in your mind are but from the past in you.  You look around for inspirations and all you see is what is known by all.  When the mind body soul experiences this state and the 5 sensors have reach its limits and is unable to influence you anymore with the physical real world – you find a another sense of feeling and “seeing” sets in.  The fact that it has a name means that others have been there – the sixth sense.  You are now looking without your 5 sensors but are looking totally with your full body and mind.  You sense that there is a sense of knowing that you have not known before.  You now know that there is another way of looking that is more complete with more information, not of the physical world but of that unseen side of you.  You realize that there another world out there that is invisible and is made complete with what you already know.

I want to take you to the edge where there are no more boundaries and where the new comes forth in my mind which I cannot manifest but only dogmatically in a painting or in words, but then the “word is not the thing”.  You have to start your own journey towards the edge of perception.

painting seeing from edge

Perils of living at the edge.  At the edge will be a whole new space for you.  Your mind and body will be more sensitive to observation.  Remember that you are now dealing with different things that you did not have to deal with when you were living in the material world where your mind was only concerned with what you could see and touch.  Now you are seeing a lot of the unseen world that your mind and body is starting to make sense of.  A lot of what you see at the edge is best experienced only through observation.  Trying to bring your thinking mind into this world especially at the early stages of you experiencing this space can be confusing as the mind is observing the unseen and trying to make sense of what it is feeling but cannot see and trying to make the mind to create an image of it but it cannot or will create a flase confused image for you.  You are now experiencing the unknown and you will find that at the edge you are now experiencing the inner workings of your mind.  You are now in your mind living in it and seeing everything it sees which you did not have to do when you were seeing with your 5 sensors in the material world.  The unseen in the material world did not exists to you before you moved to the edge.  There was too much noise in your mind in the real world to see it all at the same time.  In the material world you were only half your actual potential of existence.  I am not saying that in the material world there are no persons who have already experienced the edge.  To experience the edge and then live with it with the “NEW” in you is to live with your full potential and to be all knowing.  To be the Kandinsky’s shaman who he took inspiration from.  The person who has been to the edge and lived in it and experienced it and understood his new space and to be the person who knows all through only observation.  The thinking mind ceases to exists at the edge when you have spent enough time in it.  Dogmatic learning ends and only a sense of knowing emerges and replaces the thinking mind.  The future as it is made and incorporates itself into the fabric of space will start to play out to you even before it starts to manifest into the material world.  You sense the future unfold like when you could see an idea for a painting unfold onto a canvas when you lived only with the material world.  You see and find your place in the universe.  You see and know how it is made.  You know that it is forever organic in nature and changes in time while disappearing and appearing at the same time and never the same at any instant.

When you make your journey to the edge and arrive in this “new” space in you, you tend to step out and stay out.  You are now a “new” ball of energy that is capable of changing the space around you.  You unknowingly and later knowingly interact with everything around you and now have a silent “power” to interact and change things around you by just being in the space.  You become an energy that is capable of silently influencing the world around you.  You have become an arahant.

An arahant would have started by having a dialogue with himself and his mind through a process of doing and seeing its limitations and dissatisfied with his thinking mind would start his journey to the edge to experience the unseen invisible world in him/her and to become her/his mind and hence part of the universe – his true home.
