What is Thinking?

There is thinking and thinking and there is thinking.

The thinking process can be view as a whole or one at a time as there are different types:

There is what is called verbal thinking – this is where one has to silently speak what one is thinking for one to think at all. It might feel like it is a conversational type of thinking with oneself but for me at least it is a powerful processing type of thinking. It is the thinking of the creative process. It is the spinner and the creator of ideas. It is also the creator of psychological thinking. It takes an observation and turns it into something else. It takes what is real and a fact and creates an illusion in your mind from it. An idea is an illusion in the mind created from a fact. It started real and imagined itself to an illusion in the mind. Verbal thinking can do this. I called it “speak thinking” when I observed this type of thinking in me. It’s a real spinner. The original creator of fake news. Fake news first created in the mind from a truth and put out as a lie which people think is true.

Notice that reading and writing is also a form of verbal thinking as one has to vocalise what one is writing or reading. Try reading without silently vocalising at the same time and see if you can read and understand what one is reading? The eyes might be able to scan over the words but is there comprehension. Writing the same thing. Strangely it gives the impression that the brain needs to hear what you are reading and writing to understand the words. Notice the similarities between speaking loudly and reading and writing: both sound first: silently and the other loudly. Why does the brain have to hear you first to know what you are thinking?

Then there is intuitive thinking. One can prise this out from one’s mind and experience it for what it is:

Meditation with a mantra can open out your mind for you so you can see and experience intuitive thinking for yourself. But there is an easier way to do this: verbal thinking is silently speaking what you want to think for you to think at all – so just stop silently speaking what you want to think and verbal thinking is dead in its tracks. You see it then you have it. Then use it to bring on a silent mind. When verbal thinking stops intuitive thinking shows itself clearly in your mind. You will notice that one cannot spin an observation into an idea with intuitive thinking. Intuitive thinking is only a receiving form of thinking. Then there is a pictorial form of thinking that seems to be riding the intuitive wave and daydreaming probably sits well here. It is a form of intuitive image-making of the mind. The repository for intuitive thinking and pictorial thinking is difficult to pin down. I am not sure if these 2 types of thinking are working together or not as pictorial thinking can at times bring images out of local memory and experiences where there is no silent verbal component to it. Image making in the mind will still exist when verbal thinking is silenced.

Intuitive thinking and pictorial thinking can disappear with more time spent in the silent mind. What is replaced is a state of mind that has this “sense of knowing” operating in it. It is like but not like the robust intuitive thinking that was experienced earlier. It is more subtle and softer in form and feeling. Its repository also seems to be another and more reliable source compared to the local repository of the mind and experiences. There is a sense-of-knowing when communicating with it that is dependable with its information. It can be an only receiving mode if one wants it to be but there can also be communication with its source with an intention in mind. I find the source of its repository is dependable in “speaking” the Truth and find its information streaming into ones mind kosher. There is no reason to doubt its advice when “listening” to its streaming of information. The thinking in mind for me ends here. If the mind remains further in silence it can disappear and return with no memory of where it has been.

Thinking, who would have thought that there are so many parts to it. In actuality, all these parts operate together. Verbal thinking, the spinner of imagination and ideas in the mind operating beside intuitive thinking and at times verbal thinking, silent, with the mind extracting facts and observations from the intuitive thought process and passing it on to the verbal thinking process to manage and spin it. The mind can deal with facts and use it to create an illusion in the mind. One must know that this is this and that is that if not it can take an illusion thinking it is a fact in you and create a further lie. One has to know the Truth in the lie in oneself as the mind creates a lot of illusions. These illusions in the mind have been translated into society and its infrastructure. If everything around you was created from a lie in you and the mind is in everyday chaos because its front line thinking process is churning out illusions in the mind – how stable do you think is the whole? How far off the natural law of things have we tangent off from with the illusions we created from our thinking minds such that the tectonic stresses created in the way we live and in the infrastructure is going to create an earthquake. Many think for good reason the mind has to work differently in the future to correct the stresses in the infrastructure and in the way we think before it is too late.

Different thinking mind spaces.

The silent intuitive state in our minds can work off or with the Cosmic mind in a no-mind, all-knowing sense of “being” state of mind quite efficiently. There is only receiving here with no local thinking off one’s past with its limitations. One works in calm here because there is no conflict in mind. Everything comes off the repository of the Cosmic mind. All is true in this mind space. There is no verbal thinking here but it can be introduced into the pool of thoughts if a fact needs to be spun out of control into something else or mixed and matched with another in your mind. Then verbal thinking can be sent back to the periphery waiting to be called upon again. With this process of thinking the source of the baseline is kosher, part of the natural law of things and part of Brahman’s experience and repository. If you spin this out into an idea, in mind you will know that its source is the Truth that holds all together and the idea spun out of the source is also still part of that Truth.

But a lie is a lie, as far away from the fact it ones was and the Truth is a fact, unadulterated, always true, indivisible, omnipresent and part of the natural law of things.

The tree outside your window is a fact and it always has been and it was not made from your mind. It is not like the building next to it which was created from a lie or an idea in your mind.
