To silent your thinking mind. What comes with this silence in mind is for you to discover and tell us all what you have experienced. This is the magic of meditation. It show you the other mind spaces that you have hidden behind your thinking. It opens up your brain power so you start to use more of your brain.
You can see from the diagram above that the culprit is the thinking process that is creating all the noise in your mind and it is hiding all the gems that are hidden behind it from you.
So how do you shut down your thinking mind. No, you do not have to sit cross-legged and sit in a corner of a room meditating. Bringing on a silent mind is a natural process and is for everybody to practice and does not belong to any religion or sect.
There are many natural processes that can bring about this silence in mind.
Doodling: this is what scientist have found,
When you doodle the mind gets distracted from what you are thinking and the mind opens up after the noise is your mind is lowered. It is getting quieter but not completely quiet as you are still using your brain in the experiment above. See how just by removing some of the thinking by doodling the brain gets more powerful in this experiment above.
So you might start to ask yourself – is all this unnecessary thinking – psychological thinking, anxiety thoughts, worrying thoughts etc – in your mind just a waste of time and is preventing us from having a more powerful brain.
So you might ask: I want to shut down my thoughts completely and how do I do this? Cross-legged meditation will do this if you want to see what is behind that silent mind. They will give you a mantra and ask you to use it during meditation BUT they won’t tell you what the mantra is for – it is to distract you from the thought process – just like what doodling was doing for you in the earlier experiment. Nothing magical about it – it is just a distracting tool for your mind so you stop thinking.
Are you starting to get the feeling that the culprit behind all of this shenanigans is THINKING.
But with cross-legged meditation you will find that you can experience what is behind all that silence in your mind but it is not a functional method as you are stuck cross-legged in the corner of your room and sitting still and you cannot use your mind for anything else. It is good for deep silence in mind and experiencing the silence but you cannot do anything in that situation.
So what is a walking-talking type of meditation like the process of doodling, which is just as powerful as cross-legged meditation where I can be silent in mind and function with a more powerful silent mind.
I think this is the answer to that question but you need to see it for what it is for you to use it effectively: It is a walking talking meditative technique that silences your self-talk thinking process and brings on a more powerful intuitive-stream-thinking process to your mind.
I called it “Speak-thinking”. I discovered that I was silently speaking everything I was thinking. It is as if my brain has to hear what I was thinking to know what I was thinking so it can process the thought. Self-talk and thinking is linked together in the thinking process and if one is missing – you cannot think at all. So I realized I had found the holy grail of the thinking process. I had found out how thinking works and the best part is it has an anomaly in the process that is linked to self-talk. It is like if you have a weakness in the body-mind that you can use to understand oneself better. I thought that if I can “watch/feel” my vocal cords when I am thinking and then break this link in thinking, by not silently speaking what I am thinking then all my thoughts will disappear. So you can see now what the mantra does in cross-legged meditation and why doodling can bring on a more silent receptive mind but watching the vocal cords stops thinking completely and you can still go about your daily activities.
So when you shut thinking out completely and for longer periods – what then – what is behind that noisy curtain of thoughts in the mind. Its for you to find out. Perhaps it is different from mine. I found that a new type of thinking emerged in me. An intuitive-stream-like thinking started to show itself where there was no self-talk anymore in my mind. I seem to feel that I was communicating with another. I don’t want my mind to start making up what this other is. I am describing “what is” to you, just the sense and how I use this new mind of mine. It is for you to find out what is this behind the noise. I sense that the silent intuitive stream-thinking mind is an evolutionary mind as the longer you are in it it slowly evolves with time. It seems to run on auto pilot with no effort on my part. Intention in mind is how I communicate to what is behind this silence. I still think “normally”, only now it is all done intuitively. I know when my previous brain is not working when I am not self-talking my thoughts. You get new powers when you are operating from this space. I think it all comes from the brain opening up to its full potential. It is an evolving space with time and the longer one spends in this space the more it opens up to you.
