Of all the limitations of the mindbodysoul you would have thought that what you were thinking just will always remain out of bounds from prying eyes.  But not so it seems.  Your mind can be hacked to know what you are thinking.  Not surprising I guess because the mindbodysoul has got no firewalls.  As for thinking its entry point for hackers is that the mind has one flaw: it silent speaks what it thinks.

In this example one gets to your thought process through electromagnetic induction.  The body is also a electromagnetic body.  You couple both an external process with the mindbodysoul and when the person thinks unfortunately he also silently speaks.  The external process here is a gadget that they use for the hard for hearing.  It is called the electromagnetic induction loop.  This is what it looks like.

It very simply is this: the speaker speaks through a microphone.  The audio signal is converted to an electrical signal, amplified and passed through the loop as seen in the diagram.  The person who is hard for hearing then uses a induction loop receiver to pick up the modulated magnetic signal (which has been amplified) to then listen to the person with the microphone.  So you can see how your thoughts can be picked up by this process, since you also silent speak when you think.  In fact these days since you can transfer audio from one room to another using your power lines in your homes: that network of wiring is one large induction loop.  You know that each of the sockets in your home is connected to this loop.  Since your power supply cables emits a 60 Hz hum due to the heating and cooling of the cable as the current passes through it, it can be used to modulate to your thinking and sub vocal speech when you think.  You body, an electromagnetic entity in itself, can connect to the grid through the lights in your house or if the grid is used as a loop and a microphone is attached to this loop: it would modulate to your speech and your thinking.  The whole process is a bespoke process.  You make it work anyway you can.  But there will be some combination that will cause the hum from your induction loop to pick up your subvocal speech when you think and that is the access to your thinking.  Even if this is at all a very remote possibility it is still a worrying possibility.  The body has a flaw: it speaks what it thinks and you cannot think without speaking.  Try it.  Both processes are coupled together.

So this below is using a the system above to get to my thinking.  Remember that I am only a penny investigator and just doing my research for an installation to show the limitations of the 5 sensors and the mindbodysoul.  It will be for me to understand how my sensors operate at its limits.  Take for example hearing.  We hear sound when the air vibrates between the frequencies of 20 Hz to 20 Khz.  At its operating borders, you might not hear a sound, but does the pressure wave in the air still gets picked up by the ear drum and produces a thought.  And if this is true can you safely say that all your thoughts are your own.

Can I first show you the trace of the original recording: This is me just thinking, “jack and jill…” as one would do, in the presence of a good recorder connected to an induction loop set up.  I want to know if my sub-vocal speech of what I am thinking can be picked up by the recorder, amplified by the induction loop system and recorded in my computer via the induction loop receiver.  The induction loop receiver will only translate a magnetic field first and convert it to sound.  Remember that the induction loop system does not need to be in the same room as the microphone.  Banks use this system for the hard for hearing so they can hear the banker behind the counter.  It is compulsory that they have this system installed in all banks.  In this case, this time, the microphone is located close behind the counter.

If you open up this trace you can see where the modulations have taken place. Looking at the trace below the modulations due to the thinking process is where the trace is denser.

The recording: reduce the volume to hear the modulations if it is not clear.  Remember that you are listening to the hum that is modulating to “Jack and Jill…”. This is just a simple example to show you that it is possible that our thinking is captured.  Even at the slightest notion that it is possible is already a travesty.  Remember here during this experiment I was virtually silent but for my thinking and hence “speak thinking”.  An algorithm could translate these fluctuations to convert them to speech.

Thinking is the last bastion of privacy and to allow its access through the “flaw” of us silently speaking what we think leaves the individual completely vulnerable to all our secrets.   Perhaps it is inevitable that we would have come to recognise, sometime, that we will have to stop speaking what we think, or…. to stop thinking when it is not necessary.

My research is mainly to construct an artistic installation that will show the intangible side of the viewers. To be able  for them to hear their own thoughts and also to possibly show that your thoughts might just not be your own by the use of silent subliminal’s still focusing on the limitations of the mind and its 5 sensors.  My installation will just be a micro system to what is already the bigger picture of our living environment and the city. Perhaps one day, if not today, we might all be wired to the space we live in and become a real collective where we come to recognise the human race as one entity and live accordingly.
