The Internet Of Things and the Panopticon

We live in an open-source digital self regulating society but was it all planned 200 years ago.  It is really a convenient thing today to connect the world at this juncture of history where the world is becoming chaotic and people are becoming difficult to control.  You would have thought that all this is a natural phenomenon of the evolutionary process of things.  To have all things connected with time but was it all planned in the 1800’s.

There is an uncanny resemblance in today’s internet of things to what was discussed or even planned at or about the 1780’s, through the 1800,s to finally culminate in the one-world-society with a one government, a self regulating society with mass surveillance and the control of the mind.

You see the west has finally given Jeremy Bentham his dream of the creation of the Panopticon.  No idea goes wasted in this world.  Once created it gets used and if not today then when the time of right.  We are of our past even in the future but it is the past that makes it.  In this sense the “new” of tomorrow has already been created in the past, just that it was too new to be recognised yesterday, but was in cold storage for tomorrow.  It is just like the “new” would look unrecognisable, in a time it is not ready to be born, but that does not mean that it will not be useful in the future.  The Panopticon is a good example of a “new” idea that poped up a couple of hundred years ago that was not ready for its time but waiting for the 21st century to be implemented.

What I am talking about?.  Well you see this guy called Jeremy Bentham of the UCL fame (University College London), so not famous in his day as his idea of the Panopticon was well ahead of its time that which was rejected. He made sure that his image was well preserved at the university today so to be sure that people will know it was him that introduced the idea of having the feeling of being watched but not knowing the source.

“to be observed (-opticon) by a single watchman without the inmates being able to tell whether or not they are being watched.”  Panopticon

Well that idea is here today in the form of gang stalking, ultrasound mind control and voice to skull, cctv and mass surveillance in the 21 century.  You don’t need to know how you are being watched just that there is enough personal evidence you will have gathered to know that you are being watched to make you a better person.  It is a self-organising system of an open-prison that cost the governments in the world nothing to run by allowing the population to self regulate itself.  What they did not consider is that the criminals themselves will be the self- regulator on the good to extort and practice criminality that they should be lock up for to keep them out of public presence.  But then the criminal is also not far out of sight from the ways of the governments more advanced electronic digital techniques or of the good to counter the methods of the criminal to make them visible.  I guess that is the way of the Panopticon: for all to play its part in the self regulation of society and at no cost to the government, or not.  Perhaps this is one experiment too far for the fragile structure of society to take.

The Panopticon is a type of institutional building designed by the English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late 18th century. The concept of the design is to allow all (pan-) inmates of an institution to be observed (-opticon) by a single watchman without the inmates being able to tell whether or not they are being watched. Although it is physically impossible for the single watchman to observe all cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched means that all inmates must act as though they are watched at all times, effectively controlling their own behaviour constantly.

Society today has become an open prison with people given the idea that they are being watched all the time.  It fact it goes further than that today.  It allows anybody, from communities, to societies within a society, neighbour against neighbour to give the impression that they are watching each other through the use of silent sound, thumpers on your walls, ultrasound projections, microwave harassment, and listening devices to give one the impression that you are being watch all the time.  The process is hijacked by criminal types for their own purposes.  A process that is perhaps encouraged by government and police at one time is getting out of hand in the cities around the world.  In the UK they have recently passed a law of 5 years imprisonment for “stranger stalking”.  What, stranger stalking?  Why would you want to stalk a stranger.  This is mass community stalking using mobile apps and sms.  Using the infrastructure of the city like the surveillance systems in the transport system, the elaborate PA system in the tube underground system with their employers acting as look outs, Rogue police officers in the police force protecting their foot patrol community stalkers.  It gives you an impression that within society there is a rogue government within the legitimate government who is also running society on their own terms.

Whether it will stand fast, and bear the shocks of discussion, remains to be decided by experience…What would you say, if by the gradual adaptation and diversified application of this single principle, you should see a new scene of things spread itself over the face of civilized society?
– Jeremy Bentham, Panopticon (1791)

The Panopticon is the “the internet of things”.  You had an idea 200 years ago and you add to it as technology advances as you would a design you invented today.  The idea of the Panopticon has been built on for the pass 200 years from a simple idea of incarceration of wrong doing to the incarceration of open society before it gets out of control. Governments has allowed self regulation in society without having any control over the process themselves.  It has also turned out to be a horrible experiment for them with the self regulatory system exposing corruption and other wrong doings of the elite.  This has become an open source society that we live in.  The idea of the Panopticon that pops out of ones head 200 years ago, rules today when it gets implemented 200 years later.

The real masters of the 1 world society: the new world order planned 200 years ago.
